The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, located in Caribbean, consists of two main islands, Trinidad and Tobago and, hence, is an island country. The economy of Trinidad and Tobago is based on trade and tourism. The economy of Trinidad is greatly industrialized, ruled by the gas and oil sector. However, tourism, agriculture, manufacturing and construction also contribute significantly towards the economy. Tourism and agriculture dominate Tobago. Due to the scarcity of food production, the twin island state has to import its food. Petroleum, petrochemicals and natural gas serve as the cornerstone of the economy. |
